      Product description

      Detailed description:

The Circu EP is an electro-permanent magnetic chuck designed for installation on rotary tables of vertical grinders for clamping of tool and hardened steels and for heavy duty turning operations. The radial layout of the individual poles is suitable for work with circular or cylindrical shapes such as bearing rings, circular rings, bushings, etc. Using the control unit, the holding force can be controlled in several steps and fast and efficient demagnetization of workpieces can be performed. Thanks to the electro-permanent technology used there is no need for permanent connection to the mains. This results in high efficiency in operation and this also ensures the highest possible clamping accuracy.

      Important parameters:

      • Technology: Electro-permanent
      • Poles: Radial
      • Regrinding limit: 8 mm
      • Guarantee: 2 years

      Additional information:

High holding force for clamping during the ultimate heavy duty machining, drilling, and turning operations. Available with pole plate equipped with T-slots for mounting pole extensions. The control unit can be programmed for different types of material to achieve maximum strength and effective demagnetization after machining. At the same time, it is possible to adapt the force to clamp even thinner parts without any deformation. The chuck can be connected via the slip ring in the machine tool spindle, or through the connector located directly on the magnetic chuck.

      Use:

Electro-permanent circular chuck Circu EP for safe and economical rotary table machining

The Circu EP electro-permanent circular chuck represents the pinnacle of technology in clamping large rotating parts on vertical lathes (carousels) and cylindrical grinders. This system combines the immense power and flexibility of electromagnets with the absolute safety of permanent magnets. Electric current is only needed for a few seconds for the magnetization and demagnetization cycle. During the turning or grinding process itself, the workpiece is held exclusively by strong permanent neodymium magnets. In the event of a sudden power outage, there is no risk of the massive workpiece becoming loose, which guarantees one hundred percent work safety and protection of expensive machinery.

Concentric pole chucking without heating for maximum dimensional accuracy

The main design advantage of the Circu EP model is its concentric (circular) arrangement of magnetic poles, which allows for an even distribution of clamping force from the center to the outer edge of the plate. Since no electrical current flows into the chuck during machining, there is no internal heating of the coil. This completely eliminates thermal expansion, ensuring absolute dimensional stability and geometric precision even during long-term operations. The robust all-metal body from the Czech manufacturer Walmag is completely waterproof and offers high resistance to cooling emulsions, hot chips, and large centrifugal forces, making it an ideal choice for highly efficient and maintenance-free industrial operation.

      Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Are your products made in the Czech Republic? Are your products made in the Czech Republic?

Yes, the entire process – from in-house development through design, production, to final assembly and testing – takes place directly in our plant in Kroměříž. This gives us full control over quality and allows us to flexibly tailor products to specific customer requirements.

What is the difference between permanent, electromagnetic, and electro-permanent systems? What is the difference between permanent, electromagnetic, and electro-permanent systems?

Permanent Magnets: Operate without electricity, activated mechanically by a lever. They are safe, mobile, and maintenance-free.
Electromagnets: Generate a magnetic field using coils powered by mains electricity. They possess immense strength, can clamp uneven surfaces, and allow force regulation, but require a constant power supply and backup sources.
Electro-permanent Magnets: Combine the advantages of both systems. They only require electric current for a fraction of a second for activation (magnetization) and deactivation. During operation itself, they do not need current, making them extremely safe even in the event of a power outage and preventing overheating.

Can your lifting magnets also be used for handling materials at high temperatures? Can your lifting magnets also be used for handling materials at high temperatures?

Conventional permanent magnets lose their strength at temperatures above 80 °C. However, for operations with higher temperatures, we offer special series (e.g. HOT lifting magnets) that can safely handle materials with temperatures up to 180 °C.

Why is it necessary to use a demagnetizer after machining? Why is it necessary to use a demagnetizer after machining?

Ferromagnetic materials retain residual magnetism after being exposed to a magnetic field (e.g., when clamped onto a magnetic chuck). This causes metal chips and dust to stick to the workpiece, which can damage tools or complicate further processing (e.g., painting, welding). Demagnetizers reliably remove this residual magnetism.

Do you provide service and revisions for your products?Do you provide service and revisions for your products?

Yes, for all our technologies, including older BUX, Walker, and Pilana brand products, we provide complete warranty and post-warranty service, repairs, overhauls, and original spare parts. We also perform mandatory periodic certifications, inspections, and load capacity testing of lifting magnets.

Do you also offer staff training?Do you also offer staff training?

Yes. As part of the delivery of our magnetic applications and large systems, we provide professional operator training to ensure that working with magnets is as efficient and safe as possible.

How is heavy goods (e.g. clamping plates) delivered? How is heavy goods (e.g. clamping plates) delivered?

Due to the higher weight of our products, we cooperate with specialized pallet and parcel carriers who ensure safe handling.

How is the safety of lifting magnets purchased from the e-shop guaranteed? How is the safety of lifting magnets purchased from the e-shop guaranteed?

All lifting magnets comply with the strict ČSN EN 13155 standard and operate with a safety factor of 3+. This means that in a pull-off test (the so-called Air Gap test, which simulates a real air gap/dirt in operation), the magnet can lift more than three times its declared maximum load capacity.
